The revolution that makes transportation more sustainable
Today, amidst the wintry showers, we captured impressive footage at the RDW test circuit in Lelystad. Here, we showcased Econogy’s groundbreaking yDrive technology in action. This innovative system equips trailers with an electric drive, enabling any fuel-powered truck to be easily converted into a hybrid combination. Additionally, the system acts as a range extender for electric trucks, marking a significant step forward in sustainable transport.
The yDrive not only provides zero-emission support during acceleration but also features regenerative braking, recharging the battery while decelerating or driving downhill. This results in reduced fuel consumption and an extended range. According to a simulation study by research institute TNO, a tri-axle trailer with this technology can achieve up to 40% fuel savings in urban and regional distribution. The potential impact is enormous: if all eligible trailers in Europe were equipped with yDrive, this could save approximately 2% of Europe’s total CO2 emissions.
During the shoot, Martin van Willigen, director and founder of Econogy based in Dronten, gave us an exclusive insight into the story behind yDrive. His extensive experience in the trailer industry laid the foundation for the development of this innovative solution.
The full film will soon be available through the channels of Econogy and its partners, including RAI Automotive Industry NL, TNO, THT New Cool, Drive Line Systems BV (DLS), and V-Tron B.V.
Stay tuned and discover how the future of sustainable transport takes shape with yDrive!
