Repurposing the St. Jozef Monastery and the New Garden Homes in Tongelre
On Poeijersstraat in the Eindhoven district of Tongelre stands the impressive St. Jozef Monastery, an iconic building with a rich history. Pauwert Architectuur collaborated with Woonbedrijf, De Loods Architecten, and Kruitkok Landscape Architects to develop an innovative plan to give the monastery a new lease on life. The result: a repurposing of the monastery and the creation of modern (garden) homes in the former monastery garden.
This unique project brings together history and the future. The authentic character of the monastery is preserved, while the addition of contemporary homes breathes new life into the area. The design carefully considers the historical context and integrates sustainability principles into both the repurposing and the new construction.
We had the privilege of providing architectural and interior photography for Pauwert Architectuur and De Loods Architecten. With an eye for detail and atmosphere, we captured both the strength of the original monastery and the new designs, showcasing the project in its full glory.
This project demonstrates how heritage can be transformed into a living environment for the future with vision and respect. A stunning example of the convergence of architecture, landscape, and interior design.
