Raw materials atlas Meierijstad: A visual journey through raw material flows and circular opportunities for a sustainable future
Commissioned by the Municipality of Meierijstad, we designed an inspiring resource atlas that clearly and attractively depicts the complex world of resource sources and flows within the municipality. Our graphic designer Martijn van der Loo worked closely with authors Bart Nevels and Daan Arkesteijn of Enter Next Level, specialists from the municipality and external experts to create a document that not only informs, but also visually convinces.
The atlas excels with its dynamic layout with colorful gradients in blue and green, symbolizing sustainability and growth. Infographics, Sankey diagrams and schematic views make abstract data tangible. Photographs of natural resources, construction processes and waste streams, combined with maps of land use and industrial sites, provide a visual narrative that brings the resource ecosystem to life.
Highlights include visual breakdowns of sectors such as agri-food, construction and manufacturing, with clear figures illustrating opportunities for circularity, without getting bogged down in dry text.
